When computers freeze

The afternoon is here, and that means one thing. It's time to update the anti-virus package which means ultimately a very slow computer.

Today has been relatively successful. I rang the CCCS who reassured me that it was more important to eat than worry too much about creditors who'd want every penny you had. So as a result I actually have a bit more money to live off.

Last night was great, prog-acapella hit Exeter and it went down really well. The Catweazle Club is an awesome venue for experimental, original and fantastical acts. And last night was storytellers evening, with four story tellers including David Heathfield and Michael Dacre.

And conveniently, my computer has unfrozen.

Remember me?

Hi Posterous,

It's me! Remember? Well I'm back, kinda. I'm flitting between blogging services at the moment, not sure which one to use properly and a bit indecisive as ever when it comes to recording the happenings of life.

For a while I've been using Tumblr happily as it has an native app for the Blackberry, and it's straightforward to use. But then, what is more straightforward than sending an email? True. You're easy to use.
So this is the 'Insta-thought Machine', I see you read the title, well done. To be honest I lost inspiration for naming things, so this will have to do for now. Well I'm on the way home on a cold bus. It's odd because you think that given it is pretty much the summer (near as damned) it is remarkably cold. The wind brought down a massive branch in the woods, right across the driveway which needed sawing and dealing with.
I'm going to Catweazle on Tuesday with Tori who'll be doing a number on her guitar and then an acappela number with me covering Free Design's 'Love You' which should be awesome :).

Well, my tablet is calling me, it has the latest edition of Custom PC on it.

Holiday - Narrow-boating in Warwickshire

Today I have returned to my empty and oddly smelling flat after a pleasant week floating about on a canal boat with my beloved and two very good friends (John and Rachel).  This is a short update as I have made a video of the whole thing, which did mostly consist of tillering, opening locks, closing locks, drinking ale, wondering about Lemington Spa, getting rained on and generally having a blast.  It'll be on my YouTube channel and also my Vimeo channel.

The rest of my life is going to re-start with a certain amount of vigour.  I intend to spend some of tomorrow writing and hopefully getting photos developed.

I'm going to be 29 in three weeks time.

Unreal...

A Narrowboat is not a Barge

So, the penultimate day of my narrowboat adventure is upon us. Yesterday we visited the Hatton flight, got rained on, and found a lovely pub in which to hide in. It rained in a vast deluge for hours and hours. However the food was amazing, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

The ultimate kind act was when the bar maid gave us a lift back to the boat after finding out how unreliable and expensive taxi's were in Warwick.

So travelling today, back to the Napton flight hopefully. I've had an amazing time so far, the company is exquisite and the times have been good.

The summer holiday...

The summer holiday has started, and soon the floods of tourists will ensue and the roads will be crammed with families all ‘trying to have a good time’ in the face of high unemployment, screaming ungrateful children and pets that demand 24 hour attention so that they won’t pee over the carpet.

Cynical? Yes. I have a hangover for which there is no cure. Well maybe an afternoon buying fiction in Waterstones? Yes that sounds like a good cure.

So some people might be wondering where exactly is Chris?  He’s not been doing many open mics, he doesn’t seem to be very poetic at the moment.  No Chris isn’t very poetic at the moment, but for some things in life there is only so much you can give.  Time has always been very hard for me to give, and I am working on a couple of projects such as recording music with my talented other half and a group of friends, writing and a couple of experimental things that involve recording a lot of footage and presenting it in different formats.

I had to give up on keeping the food blog as it was a lot more effort, I am planning to write more about Web2.0 and Social Media as it is becoming a bigger part of my day-job, and is something that I have a passionate interest in.  But in September, I will start back with renewed poetic vigour. I promise J

Earthquakes 2010

What in the world is up with all the earthquakes that we have been seeing lately?  Earthquakes are up dramatically in 2010 and there are no signs that the rate of large earthquakes is slowing down.  So is this increase in earthquakes significant?
Is this something to be concerned about? I think so...

Is this something to worry about? methinks that it is...

The Big Lunch at Copplestone Drive, thoughts and ruminations.

So, today I've spent the day helping out at our local big lunch event.

It was a nationwide scheme that was designed to bring people closer together and build communities.

Our event was relatively successful, despite a no show from out bouncey castle, Barry (chair of residents committee) and Emma &
Chelsea, and little ol' me set everything up and ran the event. With extra help from Pete Taylor in taking it all down too.
I felt it was successful despite the smallish turnout. The sun shone, and people were smiling, so we did something right.

Strangely, I've taken to writing my blog on the phone. Possibly to do with the fact it's easier to type in bed.

When there isn't much to say...

...then talk about a memory.

A whole year has passed and the amount of things that have happened since, have been mind blowing. If you said that I'd be happy in love, looking towards a future and still in good healtn, I'd have laughed and put you down as someone with a wild imagination.

But look at me now. Since last year, things have steadily got better, and i am hoping they will continue.

It's the staff party tomorrow, and I can't wait to go as Tori's boyfriend, not (like last year) just as friends with a dirty secret. Let's hope the weather sorts itself out. I'll provide drunken photographic evidence, I am sure.
